Shooting of the new Roland Emmerich MoonFall film officially started on Monday.

The film will tell the story of a space crew that must travel to the Moon after it is hit by an asteroid and sent on a collision course with the Earth.

The German director is a regular in disaster movies, having directed, among others, Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012.

The cast of this new film includes Halle Berry, who has just completed a 14-day stint in the metropolis, Patrick Wilson, Charlie Plummer, John Bradley and Stanley Tucci. It was announced this week that Donald Sutherland and Eme Ikwuakor have been added to the cast.
