Safety qualifications for scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts

Description

This training course meets Canadians standards in place. Article 7.1 of CSA standard B354 : “Only qualified personnel who have been trained and familiarized in the inspection, application, and operation of an aerial platform, including the recognition and avoidance of hazards associated with their operation, shall operate an aerial platform.”

This training addresses aerial devices covered by Canadian CSA standards:

• B354.1-01; portable elevating work platforms (man-lift type)
• B354.2-01; self-propelled elevating work platforms (scissor type)
• B354.4-02; self-propelled boom-supported elevating work platforms (aerial platform type)”

Target population

The training is primarily intended for regular and casual workers wishing to carry out work at heights with a basket or a platform.

Goals

Following training, participants will be able to:

  1. COMMUNICATE risks involved with different equipment used;
  2. IMPLEMENT stability and capacity principles;
  3. COMPLETE AND VALIDATE a daily pre-operation check form;
  4. SAFELY USE AND OPERATE a lift truck;
  5. VALIDATE theoretical (written test) and practical knowledge under supervision by a qualified person.
