Obligations of heavy vehicle users (OHVU)
Description
This theoretical training course specifically intended for vehicle drivers who are IATSE 514 members. After training, participants will have a better understanding of:
- heavy vehicles;
- the various obligations and responsibilities of the user of such a vehicle;
- the consequences of non-compliance with regulations.
Target population
This training course is primarily intended for all truckers working with heavy vehicles, regardless of their class.
Goals
During training, participants will be introduced to:
- THE ACT Respecting Owners, Operators and Drivers of Heavy Vehicles (OODHV);
- HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION regulations and traffic rules in road tunnels;
- RULES FOR HEAVY VEHICLE use;
- CARGO SECUREMENT standards.
Following training, participants will be able to:
- IDENTIFY a heavy vehicle;
- MAINTAIN a daily driving log book;
- EXECUTE a pre-departure check and complete the check sheet.

- RULES FOR HEAVY VEHICLE use;
- CARGO SECUREMENT standards.
