Obligations of heavy vehicle users (OHVU)

Description

This theoretical training course specifically intended for vehicle drivers who are IATSE 514 members. After training, participants will have a better understanding of:

  • heavy vehicles;
  • the various obligations and responsibilities of the user of such a vehicle;
  • the consequences of non-compliance with regulations.

Target population

This training course is primarily intended for all truckers working with heavy vehicles, regardless of their class.

Goals

During training, participants will be introduced to:

  1. THE ACT Respecting Owners, Operators and Drivers of Heavy Vehicles (OODHV);
  2. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION regulations and traffic rules in road tunnels;
  3. RULES FOR HEAVY VEHICLE use;
  4. CARGO SECUREMENT standards.

Following training, participants will be able to:

  1. IDENTIFY a heavy vehicle;
  2. MAINTAIN a daily driving log book;
  3. EXECUTE a pre-departure check and complete the check sheet.
  4. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION regulations and traffic rules in road tunnels;
  5. RULES FOR HEAVY VEHICLE use;
  6. CARGO SECUREMENT standards.
