Basic fall protection level 1
Description
This course is mandatory for workers required to work at a height, either on a ladder, a scaffold or a platform and who need to have an adequate knowledge of fall protection systems. The course includes a theoretical section focused on understanding protection systems, and a practical section allowing the student to become familiar with safety harness adjustment.
Please note that this course is a prerequisite for Fall Protection Rescue (Advanced Level).
Target population
The training is primarily intended for regular and casual workers wishing to perform work at heights.
Goals
Following training, participants will be able to:
- IMPLEMENT regulation and standards regarding fall protection;
- IMPLEMENT safety rules regarding the use of ladders, scaffolds and aerial platforms;
- USE the main fall protection systems and basic fall prevention rules;
- KNOW the role and standards of use of the components of a fall protection system;
- KNOW the role and standards of use of the components of a fall arrest system;
- KNOW the compatibility between different types of fall protection equipment;
- PROPERLY USE fall protection systems;
- IDENTIFY fall risks and know how to avoid them;
- CORRECTLY ADJUST a safety harness and differentiate which type of harness is fit for a specific task.
