Petition to save our Québec companies

Dear member,

We invite you to sign the petition to save the companies Télé Ciné Montréal Inc, SOS Décor, FMR Costumes, Joseph Ponton Costumes, Espace Costume (which announced its imminent closure on Sunday).

These companies are not eligible for government subsidies. They serve Hollywood productions such as X-Men or Blood and Treasure, as well as local productions by Quebec authors such as L’heure bleue or Fugueuse.

The closure of these companies would result in an increase in the budget allocated to sets and props of approximately 85% of the costs since production companies would have to turn to Ontario or the United States for supplies. An average production in Quebec with a $20,000 budget for sets would instead have to have a budget of $135,000.

The petition will be sent to the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, Quebec Premier François Legault, Quebec Minister of Culture Nathalie Roy and Quebec Minister of Economy and Innovation Pierre Fitzgibbon.

Sign the petition

With solidarity,
The IATSE 514 team
