Basic, classification and reclassification criteria for all functions of the department:

    1. Every candidate must submit a resume relevant to the prerequisites mentioned below.
    2. Indicate only the projects for which you are credited.
    3. Your resume can include movies, TV series, commercials, music videos or any other type of productions.
    4. Mandatory training and certifications:
      • Standard First Aid with CPR/AED (Level C)
      • WHMIS 2015
      • Criminal liability for occupational health and safety
      • Respect, civility and prevention of harassment in the workplace (QUEBEC)
    5. Two years of post-secondary education completed in a school specialized in film, theatre, art, fashion, textile, sewing, cutting, or in other equivalent education programs recognized here or elsewhere, or a relevant experience in the theatre, opera, TV, fashion, circus or entertainment industry, with a minimum of 250 documented days covering various trades in the aforementioned industries (cutter, seamstress, etc.), here or elsewhere.
    6. For all functions linked with costumes, the following criteria are required:

– Basic knowledge in sewing:
– Basic knowledge of textiles and textile care
– Knowledge of period costumes
– Basic knowledge of the following software:
– Microsoft
– Excel
– Vista
– FileMaker
– Or any other software relevant to the good functioning of the COSTUME department (cutting, budget, continuity, etc.)

    1. For each function aforementioned, a documented work equivalence will be analyzed and considered, and subject to approval by the membership committee. Also, skills for which the candidate submits a certification will be considered. Likewise, technical skills that can be validated by a diploma, a portfolio or any other kind of proof of qualification will be considered.

Classification and reclassification criteria for each function:

Costume designer refers to a member who:
1- Has worked as a Costume Designer on 4 contemporary feature films or TV series, as well as on 2 period feature films or TV series in the professional industry in place, in a union or independent setting, here or elsewhere.
2- Has worked as an Assistant Costume Designer on 5 contemporary feature films or TV series, as well as on 1 period feature film or TV series, and on 1 feature film or TV series as a Costume Designer, here or elsewhere.
3- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 120 days on more than one production.
4- Has completed a training course on Criminal liability for occupational health and safety.
5- Only a committee composed of 3 Costume Designers in good standing will have the power to approve or reject applications for the Costume Designer position.

Assistant Costume designer refers to a member who:
1- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 120 days on more than one production.
2- Has completed a training course on Criminal liability for occupational health and safety.

Costume Supervisor refers to a member who:
1- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 120 days on more than one production.
2- Has completed a training course on Criminal liability for occupational health and safety.

Key Wardrobe Master refers to a member who:
1- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 120 days on more than one production.
2- Has completed a training course on Criminal liability for occupational health and safety.

Wardrobe Master refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Assistant Wardrobe Master refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Wardrobe Buyer refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Wardrobe Coordinator refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Key Dresser refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Dresser refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Assistant Dresser refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Key Specialized Wardrobe Technician refers to a member who:
1- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days;
2- Has completed a Respiratory Protection training session.

Specialized Wardrobe Technician refers to a member who:
1- Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days;
2- Has completed a Respiratory Protection training session.

Seamstress refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.

Wardrobe Technician refers to a member who:
Can demonstrate a work experience of at least 90 days.
