Canadian Emergency Response Benefit: Did you receive “too much money?”

Dear member,

More than one million Canadians who applied for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) received two payments.

If this is your case, do not spend the overpayment because the Canada Revenue Agency is clear: “All Canadians who have received duplicate benefits will have to repay the overpayment. Same thing for those who received an EI cheque and an CERB cheque, they should expect to have to repay the overpayment”.

In any case, the maximum you can receive for 16 weeks is $8,000. If you exceed this amount, the CRA will recover the overpayment.

With solidarity,
The IATSE 514 team
